Clinical problem

Pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the cause of approximately 35,000 hospitalizations and 2,200 deaths per year in the United States⁴. Non-mortality sequelae of severe TBI affect both the child and the child’s family due to cognitive impairment, decreased physical and mental health, and lower quality of life^5,6,7. Interventions to improve outcomes for pediatric severe TBI patients may have substantial beneficial impact on the child, family, and community.
