The acoustic wave is mechanical and longitudinal, and the superposition of two acoustic waves forms a standing wave. In standing waves, the mechanical wave creates acoustic pressures along the propagating direction, therefore, any standing wave includes a number of nodes and anti-nodes, and the nodal points may be used for AT²⁹. However, there are several ways to produce an AT; for example, a single acoustic wave incident on a rigid wall, by superposition of the initial wavefront and the back-scattered one can also form a standing wave and an AT, in turn.
