California reaches the target of 1.5 million EVs two years ahead of schedule

Many states in the U.S. have tried to follow the Californian model to reduce emissions, but nobody is even close to the adoption rate of EVs, as seen in the Golden State. A strong economy and many affluential state residents likely buoy the numbers.

Nevertheless, the state has shown a high affinity for purchasing EVs, with sale numbers rising by an astonishing 153 percent, year-on-year, as per Veloz’s report. 124,053 EVs were sold in Q1 of 2023, of which battery electric vehicles were the most sold at 95,946.
